I'm not bashing I'm clearly stating, my Opinion.
& telling why I think so.
Of course every character has "weaknesses."
I don't have a rocket launcher built into my forearm or a targetting designator for the Ion Cannon in my eye (both of which I have plans to remedy).
But let's think about this a minute... Sakura... a medical ninja who is supposed to heal people... is built for the direct combat role... meaning she is supposed to jump into the chaotic fray of hand-to-hand combat and Thor-Smash.
Where she is also just as likely to get Thor-Smashed, herself.
That's like saying: "I'm going to take our field ambulance, put a 20mm chain gun turret on it, and drive it around on the front line so we can heal our guys who get shot and also shoot at the enemy!"
Sound reasoning until a 120mm from a T-92 busts you open like a tin can. Then no one's getting healed.
Generally speaking - they are mutually exclusive roles. You have Thor come smash a path for your medics to get to your injured, then your medics GTFO, so they can sit still and concentrate on getting Thor Jr. back into the fight.
If you want to role in some support abilities for them to use when people are not injured, you give them stand-off abilities.
So, from a conceptual standpoint, Sakura's character has a huge weakness. All of her combat capability is negated the moment someone is injured and needs her to heal them. Likewise - she cannot heal if it is more important for her to go Thor Smash something. High risk for very little overall benefit.
Hinata's character doesn't make itself prone to this "all or nothing" approach. Her Byakugan has an absolutely crazy 10 kilometer range (possibly more). She, honestly, should be a critical part of any C3 (Command, Control, Communication) system. She's an AWACS. And she can shred the chakra network of anything foolish enough to close within effective range.
She doesn't -have- to be able to counter every threat thrown against her... she can gather detailed information about it from extreme range, direct appropriate forces to it (or away from it), and keep herself out of danger or place herself in effective range of her own techniques accordingly.
If this were Chess; Sakura would be something like a rook - able to either 'advance' or move laterally across her own lines; more reflecting her combat abilities. Hinata would be a knight - able to circumvent controlled regions and take out targets that are typically require high amounts of attrition with pieces bound by standard movements.
But Kishimoto isn't exactly a military person, and doesn't use many of his characters realistically/sensibly in combat.
