Maybe I'm just missing where the info is and if I am links to the lineage and history of the Namikaze clan would be greatly appreciated, but I haven't found any serious information on where the Namikaze clan came from aside from Minato.
With the recent manga chapters we have learned more about the Senju and Uchiha clan's history as well as information on the Uzumaki Clan from previous chapters. All of this history is important to understanding Naruto's heritage, but before the series is truly complete we'll need to find out more about the Namikaze clan. Maybe after the war arc I'll get a little closure.

The flashback has also talked about the Sarutobi's. But idk, it seems like the Namikaze clan is a fodder clan that somehow produced Minato.

There really isn't any information about the Namikaze clan. We don't even know if they are a clan. The only thing that is known is that Minato is a Namikaze, whoever they are.

Minato is a gifted hume. Please don't ruin that by demeaning him to a clan. He was just that great.

Since we don't see any more Senju Clan members around other than Tzunade, and we know that she was the first Hokage's "First granddaughter" (which seems to indicate that not the only grandchild) could it be that Minato could be a Senju from his mother's side? Its just a question... on my part but since there is a strong bond between the Senju clan and the Uzumaki clan it would make sense. Do you agree?

You are right I forgot about him. But it does not mean that is not possible. Could he be a descendant of Tobirama?

I do, I thought of that as a possibility because of what Obito said to Naruto when he was on his way to the 5 Kages Summit. He said that the Senju had spread out and branched off to a point where their bloodline was so diluted that there were no more Senju. He then told Naruto he sensed the Senju blood in him which could be from the Uzumaki and quite possibly from the Namikaze as they might be some far off branch of the Senju. It's also pretty obvious hair color plays a big part where Kushina, Karin, Nagato and Mito have red hair and all are Uzumaki. So the idea of Tsunade and Minato being related has crossed my mind, the obvious reason being their yellow hair. Although I could just be looking into the yellow hair just a little to much. It just doesn't make much sense that Kishi would leave a coincidence like that.

Well I would not place much truth in anything Obito/Tobi said to Naruto at that time. I think the Senju line did branch out but I'm not sure it did dilute.

At that point I don't think Obito had to much reason to lie to him, other than claiming he was Madara but that was to incite fear through the nations. Besides I think he told him because he's interested in seeing the culmination of the blood feud through the impending battle of Naruto and Sauske.

Much like the Hatakes, I don't think the Namikazes will play an important role in the story.

IDK I think we will learn more as the story progresses past the war. The Namikaze might not be a clan but that doesn't mean Minato didn't have a mother, father, brother, sisters or cousins. It would further beg to question why they weren't notified of Naruto's birth so someone could take care of him instead of him growing up alone.

The only thing we know about the Namikaze is that Minato was part of it. Quote frankly, they were probably not a clan, just a surname and if they are a clan, I doubt they were THAT powerful.

It's either that there is no Namikaze clan (thus, Minato was born from commoners, and then attained the Shinobi Academy) or that it's an extinct clan. Since a Hokage was born from it, they would have quite high status in the village, if they were in it.

i guess kishi never intended to make him from any reputed clan
he just picked the name cuz it looked beautiful

minato - harbor
nami - wave (sea wave)
kaze - wind .
namikaze - wind from sea-wave

that is the reason why naruto have the wind affinity
and i bet if another nature was intended for naruto it would have been water .
