He would have made a perfect villain imo, as the author seemed to set him up to be (along with the Akatsuki Leader.)

Imagine, before all the Rinnegan stuff was invented, if Naruto was scaled back to its roots.

If Itachi had ripped the eyes from Sasuke's head... and achieved EMS.

Sasuke would explore new non-ocular powers with Orochimaru...

EMS Itachi would betray Akatsuki for a better subplot...

etc., etc. That, combined with the AL being Minato, would have made an awesome, awesome manga.

Way better than introducing Obito/Madara 400 chapters in...

Naruto & Sasuke vs Evil Itachi & Evil Minato...
