so this might be an old discussion but i think i should give my two cents about it
1st reason
when the battle between hiruzen and oro starts you can clearly see that hiruzen wouldn't be able to fight off against the two previous hokage, neither at any point of the fight he had any advantage, i say this because when talking about the subject people would say that he was putting up a good fight against both of them, this isn't realy the truth
2nd reason
oro was very careless and cocky throughout the hole fight, you could clearly see he was just torturing him, his death was a sure thing
in both of these pages we can see oro laid back and trusting in his jutsu more than he should
3rd reason
orochimaru was controling both of the kages, it is possible he didn't know the full range of their techniques, it is importante to remember that techniques like the wood god and True Several Thousand Hands are forbiden techniques. even if he knew he wouldn't want to kill hiruzen right away (reason 2)~
4th and final reason
these mofos!
why? well it's simple if oro couldn't make a good edo back then, why should he do it right this time?
there was no way he could train, given his hands useless and we can see that the kages are at their full power, the only evidence of this is right here
there is no way that a less powerfull version of tobirama could almost destroy the room by simply charging chakra
