Edo tensei question

I know this might have already been done and answered but I haven't seen any threads about it so sorry if I annoy anyone. Does anyone know how madara managed to survive the release of Edo tensei?? Did he cast some jutsu or was kabuto or obito that caused his survival?? can someone please answer this for me if they know the answer
