Wood Release was made specially for sucking chakra.. Why do you think he used it for suppressing bijus... I get what your saying.. But wood alone cannot just absorb chakra.. He would have to summon the dragon.. I believe if the Ameterasu hit the dragon yes it could very well absorb it..
