Just my list of anime that either I was expecting to be great or was great initially, but took a severe downfall near the end. I won't go into detail as to why (except for defending my choices) to save spoiling it for others.

  1. Darker than Black Ryuusei no Gemini (Second Season)
  2. Guilty Crown
  3. Sword Art Online Second Season
  4. Pokemon 3rd season,4th season,5th season,(however many seasons there are now) U_U
  5. Dragon Ball GT
  6. Gantz Second Stage
  7. Deadman Wonderland

What's your list like?

Amazing anime to me are those that can maintain an amazing ending as well. It was a good anime, but the second half of the anime just didn't click for me. A bit rushed.

Dragonball GT was something I was looking forward to greatly when it came out.

And then it had four arcs that all added up to 68 episodes :sy:

DBGT was super bad, but it isn't like they lied, and said it was the same people as DB and DBZ.

deathnote though it' one of my favorite series, the end felt rushed

Yeah, I had to watch it many times to realize how much greater the first half was compared to the second half.

Well I read the manga way before the anime came out, so I had high expectations for the anime. I just wasn't that impressed by it when it came out.

Angel beats ? Really ? ...... Really ? Really ? The anime had a great ending & good anime

I didn't really like it. Was it supposed to be romantic or comedic? I only really enjoyed one part of that show (Episode 8, when they're all sacrificing themselves). I feel as though Full Metal Panic! definitely hit the nail on the head in terms of comedy and romance.

Well, the thing with Blue exorcist is that it catch up with the manga -it comes out monthly- real fast (After the lantern arc, in which Rin fights Amaimon for the second time and reveals his identity to his friends), so it strayed away from the original storyline.
OT: For me it would be Soul Eater anime. I love the manga, but the anime never hooked me. Even the atmosphere is different.
Another one would be Death Note, cause despite it has psychological elements, doesn't actually have it as a main focus (it was more to impresse ppl). Compared with Eternal Sabbath or Liar game (both manga have similar psychological devices, tho ES is more philosophical), it isn't that great.
Also, Ayakashi samurai horror tales disappointed me with the stories #1 and #2....I was expecting something more horrific tbh, or at least cruel (given how all Mononoke's stories were very heart-breaking and somewhat disturbing).

Well, I won't go to the same extent that it lose its charm or flair, but yes, there are lots of endings that I felt made the whole series less great that they could potentially have been.

Death Note - although my favorite - has never been the same after L's death.
Ao No Exorcist - due to an anime ending had a completely rushed-up and less impact ending.
Another messed up its ending with a overdoes fanservice for gore-lovers and a nonsensical climax.
I agree with Guilty Crown. Oh, and Mirai Nikki too...
Sword Art Online lost its plot quickly too.
Bleach was great with the saving Rukia arc, lost it then, got decent again with Espade Arc and then...*sigh*
Kokoro Connect: Michi Random climax episodes weren't as good and were too slow-paced.
Naruto, Yu-Gi-Oh, Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon ect... had good or decent sequels that aren't on same level of its original.
Shaman King had a long-stretched ending that was dragged-on.

I repeat, I don't dislike most of these series (except some...) but if it was much better towards the end, that would have been awesome!

I don't like Death Note's ending because it felt rushed and sudden.

Glad to see people put down mirai nikki as well. Was going to put that down but I thought people wouldn't understand why. I also read the manga for it way before the anime was announced, and it fell short in the end too. The ending was a big wtf moment and not the good kind.
