[Discussion] How does the reputation bar stand with you?

Surly having a decent or outstanding reputation means you are trusted among other members and you have great socail skills to carry out a discussion. Does that apply to everyone who achieves a high rank? Certainly there is many ways that others have conjure about to gain reputation in a repetation matter but does having the best reputation possible worth the time and effort? Needless to say we all have a habit of wanting to impress others and to be noticed but is having the most bars gonna have the needed assurance for others to take a liking to you? Or is it deepened on your actions and modesty.

Having the highest reputation is most sought after. But without the needed maturity and common decency to carry out a discussion it will reflect badly not only yourself but to those who you come in contact with. It shows.

Use words wisely and respectful. If you throw bullets at a bear, is anything gonna happen? No, use a gun! :|

thus using your words to an advantage. im sure you know what you type is ridiculous, and other people find it awesome and eat it up. its a win-win

OT, i personally think that there should be an actual count for rep or at least a weekly contest for best rep or something. as it sits some people don't give a ef about rep, while most do. give us something to work towards right?

Honestly, I see the rep bar as a good thread.
Most people with high rep have great threads.( that doesn't mean people with low rep have bad threads )

But the time and effort it takes to get a high rep... honestly its not worth it.
I mean, it doesn't really matter to me I guess.

I do like my rep though, But its mostly from just being myself and posting my signatures I make =) Thanks Everyone for them by the way!!
Although, it does tick me off to see people try so hard to get rep.
Might as well just act yourself and the people who like that, those people are going to rep you.

my rep just came to me some people rep me for helping others for funny things i may have said i am not very active anymore i dont really care about rep never really did it is only for those people that need validation in life lol its like a cyber pat on the back or that a boy but i give rep for many reasons so i assume others do as well if some one reps me i usually rep them back unless it is just so i will rep them lol as the more you have the more it is worth

Maybe give a little more work for the rep earned. It's easy to get rep. A caveman can do it.

Hard to grasp what rep means to people cause throughout the months rep abuse has lowered down to my knowledge.

I don't post with rep in mind so even if I had one bar I'd still be posting the same things. I think people should just be themselves without worrying about how others perceive them, especially on an online forum. You're never gonna please everyone.

i honestly know where my rep came from and i respect it's level. i don't cry or pry for rep, when it comes it comes. i use to scrape for it, but then i found a better way of getting it, being myself lol. but hey, if everyone had something to work towards you know...

I feel as if repping can sorta get a bit misused. I mean if you gonna rep, put in a response. It doesnt hurt to have an opinion and plus is nice once in a while that a person likes what you think

I used to care about rep, but I don't much anymore. I used to care, because like you said, people who don't have high rep typically have a lower change of actually being listened too here, but after awhile I just said "f*ck it, if they listen to what I say, they listen to what I say". Don't get me wrong though, It feels great when I get rep, cause it means someone either took the time to actually hear me out and agreed (or respectfully disagreed) on my point of view on the topic, or they were just entertained. Overall though the rep system is overrated, for similar reasons why the Youtube "5 star" rating system was overrated.
