Itachi was a Failure

His life was wasted, His purpose was unsustained, His plans were a failure. U_U

Itachi wanted to protect Konoha at any cost. He killed his family, his clan, his lover and even himself all for the sake of the village but what happened?....it was destroyed by Pein despite all the effort.

He entrusted Sasuke in a way to protect the village but he had gained ill-omened power which filled him with a firm intention to destroy it, again with all the inhabitants. Then he wanted to save the shinobi alliance by releasing Edo Tensei as a final objective before leaving the material world but Madara, the most powerful edo managed to cling on. He failed... yet again. -_-

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Itachi hater and he is in fact on of my fave characters. :dunno:

He did however manage to stop the war that was to follow the coup d'etat. Pain was just a **** and destroyed the village. That was not to be predicted by Itachi. But you have a point. He did however inspire many shinobi like naruto and danzo so he cant be all failure

He merely delayed the village's time for it to be crushed. When Pein came, it happened. Naruto was more of an inspiration than someone to be inspired by. Itachi was the one in fact who was following Danzo's ways. Remember, he was one of the elders to order Itachi to perform such a heinous act involving his family and clan.

Itachi is amazing. He did stop edo tensie. Madara had already broken the edo contract, so he was no longer an edo under Kabuto's contorl.

he stopped Naruto from turning into another Madara, since naruto was acting exactly like nagato and pain.

he prevented Tobi from attacking the village and hindered the akatsuki.

he stopped the Uchiha coup de ta.

though he did fail with sasuke, and he didn't defeat nagato, and he didn't kill Tobi. He did fail i give you that. but Itachi is a awesome, character, but he is a side character. not a mian character.

if he was a main character he would've probably succeded but imagine if he did succeed, no tobi, no akatuski, no evil sasuke. no Naruto plot.
