I loved this chapter!

The comedy with Sanji and Violet, Zoro getting lost and Sanji contemplating leaving him on this island. I especially loved the nosebleed bit, haha.

Well, I am really, really curious who is going to get the mera mera no mi! Out of the crew I am honestly hoping that Usopp would get it... I was always hoping for him to be more powerful than the other members, even though Oda stated that he wants Usopp to always be the weakest... Anyway, I just hoped it would be him!

Luf... I mean Lucy singing up for the tournament... It's gonna be great, probably will take many chapters to get through it. I'm hoping that Luffy will be using all kinds of haki in it! Since he said you can use any weapons he probably realised that he can go full power on the powerfull enemies. Hoping to see Haoshoku in action >.< I was actually thinking he was going to use it on the Spartan guy he KO'd but oh well, probably even better to save it for later if he does use it.

Great chapter overall, promising arc. Might even be the best arc after time-skip so far!

We'll see.

Though I found 2 things out of character. First, I don't know if Luffy's reaction to Mera Mera would be like that. Seriously, not wanting a stranger to have Ace's power? I don't, it didn't seem Luffy-esque. And the second was Luffy's one-shot at the end. I'd expect him to be more laid back and just evade everything. Then again, it was a nice move, I like it. Every time he used CoO he's badass.

Personally I expect it to be someone extremely weak, but then still stood up against someone way more powerful than him/her, maybe a child, similar to how Shanks gave Luffy the Strawhat (and in a certain way the Gommu Gommu no Mi).

Yeah, it might not be any of the strawhats for all we know. Oda will probably surprise us with this. I like what you said about it being similar to Shanks giving his fruit to Luffy (well not exactly eating it). Maybe some kid will actually eat it by accident! Just like Luffy did, haha. Would be pretty funny, but such a waste of a fruit... I'm thinking maybe Coby, even though he's already a higher marine rank... But to be Admiral he would need a dominant DF, possibly he would get it... I wouldn't mind if Coby gets it.

Don't think it's going to be Coby. He is already quite strong as it is and will definitely grow stronger in the future. He's one of those characters that is just better without a DF, similar to most of the Strawhats. I go for the option that the person who will eat the fruit, hasn't been introduced yet...or maybe just now, would be funny if the toy soldier ate it xd

if coby gets the mere mere no mi (highly doubt but wouldnt mind) that would be oda's fairy tail parody complete:

-fire breathing dragon (igneel)
-the Colosseum (Grand magic games)
-luffy signing up for the tournament as lucy (fairytail character that got owned/trolled in the tournament)
-if coby gets the fruit... (natsu: pink haired fairytail character with fire magic)

On the other hand, once the communety gets this riled up they do need to strech it out to it's fullest so I don't blame them for a mainly comical / charecter introduction type chapter.

Over all I enjoyed it, but am left pondering on theories and educated guesses about the fate of the mera mera for a wile longer.
And where would the fun be if we didn't get the chance to debate about it. XD

1) It's possible for an inanimate object to eat a DF

2) That one of Zoro's swords got stolen

3) That sword is Shuusui

4) That Kinemon has the ability to cut fire

5) And that Kinemon wants to fight Zoro for Shuusui

6) He said before fire swords are cool

7) He said before he wanted to have a fire sword


Makes me find this actually a very plausible option. I made up my mind, I'm officially now converted to the Shuusui eats the Mera Mera no Mi fruit - camp, hooray! I even go so far the flames would be purple.

Possibilities of Mera Mera no Mi.

Fujitora brings it to marine hq and coby eats it somehow.

Violet becomes the last member of the crew, a female and gets the logia fruit, she likes sanji who is a non-df fire user and fire dont hurt sanji, lol, just random reason.

Zoro may get it in one of his swords but i don't like Zoro not using his own power to get stronger, when he fights Mihawk he's gonna have a flaming sword with one of the most powerful devil fruits as an aid? It wouldn't feel as good + Kinemon uses fire in his sword so it wouldn't be original if Zoro started doing it, not only that. We've yet to see the any of the Strawhats go all out so a powerup for any of them wouldn't make sense.

Coby wants to be an admiral, all admirals we know of are logia users, it makes sense for Coby.

A female logia user is the missing piece of the puzzle when it comes to the strawhats, they need that balance of one more female and a logia because that's all they missing from the ship now, they even got a fishman(jinbe) who'll join up with them soon.

Btw, didn't Luffy want a dancer in his crew too? I may be mistaken.

What, nooo Lasagna, don't go to the dark side. The first premise isn't complete. The fact should read: 1) It's possible for an inanimate object to "eat" a Zoan DF. It is so, I believe, because Zoan Devil Fruits come with a certain sense of awareness or even intelligence. It is the only type of Devil Fruit that can surpass the eater's own conscience and act on its own, or even give the eater a conscience. Neither a Paramecia or a Logia showed anything of the sorts, hence why I deem impossible, or at least highly unlikely, that Shuusui can "eat" the Mera Mera fruit. Besides, I do believe he will be able to create fire from his sword, but not because the sword is a fire sword, but because it's a special move of his, coming from his will or skill alone.

Zoro may get it in one of his swords but i don't like Zoro not using his own power to get stronger, when he fights Mihawk he's gonna have a flaming sword with one of the most powerful devil fruits as an aid? It wouldn't feel as good + Kinemon uses fire in his sword so it wouldn't be original if Zoro started doing it, not only that. We've yet to see the any of the Strawhats go all out so a powerup for any of them wouldn't make sense.

Coby wants to be an admiral, all admirals we know of are logia users, it makes sense for Coby.

A female logia user is the missing piece of the puzzle when it comes to the strawhats, they need that balance of one more female and a logia because that's all they missing from the ship now, they even got a fishman(jinbe) who'll join up with them soon.

Btw, didn't Luffy want a dancer in his crew too? I may be mistaken.

I don't know why it makes some logical sense. And as far as we can tell the mera-mera fits her personality (fiery passion?)
I don't remember him saying anything about a dancer... but did he say he wanted an archeologist? And I agree that it would balance out the crew.

What, nooo Lasagna, don't go to the dark side. The first premise isn't complete. The fact should read: 1) It's possible for an inanimate object to "eat" a Zoan DF. It is so, I believe, because Zoan Devil Fruits come with a certain sense of awareness or even intelligence. It is the only type of Devil Fruit that can surpass the eater's own conscience and act on its own, or even give the eater a conscience. Neither a Paramecia or a Logia showed anything of the sorts, hence why I deem impossible, or at least highly unlikely, that Shuusui can "eat" the Mera Mera fruit. Besides, I do believe he will be able to create fire from his sword, but not because the sword is a fire sword, but because it's a special move of his, coming from his will or skill alone.

It was because dr Vegapunk created the technology to do it. By default there is nothing that makes it possible for an inanimate object to eat DF. Outside that there hasn't been said anything in the manga about the requirements or limits for an inanimate object to eat a DF. That's it. It's true that the only fruits who have done it so far are zoan types, however the chance that Vegapunk would have gotten his hands on a logia-type and was even allowed to experiment on it, are extremely low considering its value.

So currently there is nothing that underlines that the first premise would be necessarily incomplete. Unless the mange clearly states it only works for zoan types, it's perfectly possible as it was said that he created the technology for objects to eat DF, not zoan DF.

As it stands the only real obstacle in theory for the possibility of Shuusui eating the Mera Mera no Mi, is getting the hands on the technology to do so and we know Doflamingo has a zoan type DF factory on Dressrosa which originates from Vegapunk's research and I doubt Doflamingo/CC didn't at least try other DF types.

It's true that it seems most research has been done towards Zoan types, but that can easily be covered by just it being the most common type of DF and overall the most safe one. In the end there are still only 4 objects that ate a DF, so it's really not enough to rule out the possibility of objects eating other fruits too. Especially not when I think if Shuusui eats the DF, it's going to be intentional, but more of an accidental fluke.
