Everyone would agree that aside from Nagato, Kisame and Kakuzu had the most raw power in the entire Akatsuki. Just techniques on grand scales that could tank multiple shinobi and buildings. I know Deidara had bombs, but he's just a one trick pony imho, and already admitted inferiority to Sasori.
But I would have to argue that Sasori had potentially as much, if not more, firepower than them. First, I would have to say that from what we've seen, Sasori never really seemed to be fighting all out. He always seemed depressed and looked like he was just toying around with his oppenent. And since so many people overlook the fact that he committed suicide, many people rank him low on the Akatsuki tiers.
But I have reason to believe that Sasori had as much, if not more, firepower than Kakuzu and Kisame, and that he never really fought all out.
For one, there never seemed to be a limit on his chakra. He had amazing stamina. In the entire fight, he never showed any fatigue and just kept on going. This is just like Kisame and Kakuzu. In the data book, his stamina is a 5. There's also speculation that he was immune to genjutsu due to lacking real nerves and a brain. His body felt no pain and could withstand a punch from Sakura - a punch that could destroy the entire ground beneath her. Sure, he seems to lack the durability Kisame/Kakuzu have, but I honestly believed he put that container with his soul right on his chest on purpose, as a target - just because he was a troll and wanted someone to kill him due to his depression. (We also saw later on that he was quite a sentimental guy - giving Kankuro his puppets when he came back as an Edo).
Second, his weapons. Sasori utilizes countless amounts of poisonous gases and weapons - poison so complex that even Sakura/Tsunade would need a day or two to make an antidote. One scratch and you're DONE. Honestly, how many shinobi have ever had a high level fight and not get at least ONE scratch? VERY FEW INDEED. With the additional scrolls on his back, there's no reason to believe that Sasori couldn't just constantly emit poison gas from various weapons. Heck, people thought Hanzo of the Salamander was scary because of his poison, Sasori could probably cover the entire battlefield in poisonous gas! And how many people need to breath? EVERYONE. Also, Sasori had so many SCROLLS, I see no reason why he couldn't just summon a wooden tank that could shoot nearly endless amounts of poisonous needles, kunais, and poisonous gas bombs. I'm sure he had the craftmanship and ability to. And correct if I'm wrong, I feel Sasori still had an additional scroll on his back when he died.
Third, his chakra string technique! Although everything I say next is speculation, I feel this would be one of Sasori's most dangerous abilities if true. It has already been shown that one can connect chakra strings to another person. An example of this is when Granny attached her chakra strings to Sakura. This, in turn, allowed Granny to manipulate Sakura's movements. But my question is - what would happen if Sakura wouldn't allow Granny to do that? Could she just cut the chakra strings on a whim? Or would be a little more difficult to do that? Would it be like Kidomaru's webs? (the spider guy who fought Neji). I could see Sasori using his chakra thread techniques to manipulate and annoy his oppenent movements. Even though he probably wouldn't be able to take full control of a strong opponent, I'm sure it would cause distractions for his opponents and create mind games. On weaker opponents, though, I could actully see him taking control of a shinobi like a puppet, and making them stab themselves with a kunai. Also, there doesn't seem to be any restrictions as to what one can connects his chakra strings to or how much weight one could lift, allowing Sasori to manipulate other weapons and objects in his environment.
Lastly, and the main reason I feel Sasori has massive firepower, is because of his his PUPPETS. We already all know that his 3rd Kazekage puppet was a beast. Honestly, I'm sure Sakura and Granny were protected due to plot issues. Because in all honestly, why would Sasori ever stop using iron sand bullets and create a gigantic iron square that's so easy to dodge? If he just stuck to using iron sand bullets constantly, Granny and Sakura would be no more. He could've also just made it rain constantly with iron spears. He could've also used Iron San as an ultimate defense! This is also a reason I believe Sasori suffered from depression and did not really want to fight all out. From what I remember, Sasori is the only one in Akatsuki who single handedly took down a kage. But what impresses me most is his 100-puppet puppetshow! I feel some people downgrade this technique, saying Sakura was able to dodge them - but I for one believe, that this is the jutsu that took down a nation! What comes next is speculation, but I believe that Sasori was not using the puppets to the best of his abilities. Think of it this way - he had 100 HUMAN puppets that all retained their chakra nature and abilities. And he summoned 100. ONE HUNDRED!! People say Kakuzu was a bad mutha, but he was only using 5 hearts for 5 nature affinities. Kakuzu was able to use extremely powerful wind, fire, and lightning techniques just on 5 hearts. Imagine those large scale techniques Kakuzu used - then multiply it by 20! Such techniques would have enough power to destroy a good chunk of Konoha itself. Yes, I know it all comes down to how well Sasori can control 100 puppets at once. But I, for one, like to believe he had the ability to do so. Imagine Sasori standing 100 yards in front of you with 100 puppets raised in the air - then all of a sudden, 100 varied jutsus of water, fire, lightning, and wind come firing at you. You turn to ashes and all that's left is a massive crater in the ground. 'Twould be a great way to die
