-Once to get blood
-Then Again to kill.

However, He was not a very good stratigist, and was very cocky. He dragged out his fights, and severly underestimated his opponents, whic led to his downfall. In fact, he's probably one of the weakest Akatsuki, even though he is the hardest to defeat. The only abilities he has is his curse, and he knows some Taijutsu.
