Nope. Itachi didn't say he was weaker than Jiraiya, he said something like it would a hard fight but even strong people like Jiraiya have their weaknesses.

but in itachi's case, it was itachi HIMSELF who said that, and that also applies to what deidara said (sasori is a lot more dangerous than deidara).
what zetsu said about itachi was a way to say itachi is very strong (no one is unbeatable really).
and what pain said about jiraiya might and might not be true there is no "we all know it's not true", there is a reason to why nagato was hiding his reviver, and fought the way he did.
dismissing any statement just because one or two were not LITERALLY accurate is just ..... silly.

Not only Itachi did never want to fight leaf people, he was already exhausted to the point he had to deactivate his Sharingan. Itachi was in a position where he and Kisame were caught off guard by Jiraiya, while he wasn't even aiming at him but was busy with Sasuke. The only choice he had in this situation, was take his ally with him and to escape.

People need to see that Jiraiya is inferior to Itachi in all meanings. There's no way Jiraiya can escape Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu, especially not if someone is using both, able to kill you both with one eye contact and one glance, on top being able to use Susanoo with the Totsuka sword and Yata mirror.
