I have seen numerous threads since the release of this week's chapter judging Hashirama's judgement in the events that would shape the future, some even "blaming" him for the 4th Shinobi World War & some even labeling him the "Worst Hokage", but isn't it too soon to judge? Hashirama's resolve & ideals led to the formation of Konoha which would set the standard for the Shinobi World; however it also allowed Madara to live to become the greatest threat to the Shinobi World so far, but it is here that I make my case. We have yet to see how the battle at the Valley of the End finished & if it turns out that it "is" like Obito explained & that Hashirama truly believed Madara dead, then how can we judge his actions or ideals as wrong? For if that is the case, his actions would have gained an unparalleled ally in the Uchiha & protected the village when he defeated Madara at the Valley, while his ideals would come to shape the greatest shinobi of the future from future Hokages like Hiruzen & Minato, down to even Uchihas; in Itachi & Shisui, & of course the protagonist of the manga in Naruto, all of which would only have benefited Konoha & its future; if not for bigotry on the part of Tobirama & the schemes of a surviving Madara, can we truly hold him at fault if this is the case & he truly believed he killed Madara at the Valley of the End?

Please share your thoughts.shodaimeicon:

Hashirama is not to blame. Madara trusted hashirama. Its tobirama that caused the mistrust. Its also tobirama who isolated the uchiha away from the village. And had anbu spy on them causing further distrust.

You forgot about Izuna, he sayed the same things that Tobirama. Who would listen more his brother or his rival?. There weren't any trust from the begining, just Hashirama carrying the situation, it would worked if he goted to live 50 more years.

Like someone sayed in another thread, they were perfectly fine with the police at the beggining. they started to bitch after the kyubi incident (WHO IS TO BLAME FOR THAT???) and they tried a coup d'etat instead of talking with Hiruzen.
For the anbu spy matter, who sayed that?? that's right, tobi or "Madara" as he used to spout, you can take anything a lier says.

Regardless of his brother's beliefs Madara took a leap of faith & placed his trust in Hashirama, Tobirama was unwilling to do the same & his own particular bigotry combined with his place as the next in line to rule the village directly spurred Madara to defect, furthermore his policies which purposely ostracized & isolated the Uchiha because of his distrust led to their revolt, it is said "we make our own truths", Tobirama had his beliefs which were bigoted in regards to the Uchiha & his actions in regards to those beliefs made his worse fears true in places where they initially were not, as a result, Tobirama is nigh directly responsible for the greatest threats to Konoha in Madara's defection, Obito; Madara's will, & Sasuke; Madara's legacy.shodaimeicon:

I agree, it seems people want to write Hashirama off as too soft when that is not the case, as Hashirama pointed out bloodshed only begets bloodshed, you must strive for alternate routs if you wish to break the cycle of War.shodaimeicon:
