Yeah because it couldn't be to emphasize the fact that A main character died in the chapter. Not too mention that he is dying in the background. No that wouldn't make sense at all

Duh, that's quite obvious seeing the chakra bird and all that symbolism, but it's the cover of the 64th volume, and Naruto and Hinata hand holding is the focus of it, and the rest of the Alliance is far on the background, so much for the hand holding being just for chakra transfer like some stated.
the only way i can imagine NArusaku happening, is on the odd chance that.

Sakura has a 3 episodes of flashbacks, showing every details of everything Naruto has done for her, outlining every instance he has done, and then her confessing how big of jerk she has been, and then admitting that she loves him,. she will have to come out with a tremendously big, massive confession and reason.

As for this manga.
Naruto will go to Hinata since Hinata confessed her love and not as weird as Sakura. He deems her as weird because of her shyness. But the weird one is really Sakura. Telling Naruto shit to his face and being a bitch.
Kushina was adept at Ninjutsu and wasn't fodder like Sakura.
Hinata is definitely not fodder. Just needs more confidence in her character and she'll be good.

Kishi has already chosen Hinata for Naruto the deal is done so why not accept it and move on, If Naruto get engage in the Manga to Hinata will you say it never happen.

What we know=
-Naruto has declared his Love for Sakura
-Hinata has declared her Love for Naruto
-Naruto has not declared that he Loves Hinata Nor has he denied it.
-Sakura has declared that she loves Naruto, Naruto doesn't believe her. However, she has never explicitly said that she does not love Naruto. She also never said that she loves Sasuke anymore either in part 2
It is going to be interesting to see how things shape out. Personally, I think that Kishimoto built up NaruxSaku for the first part of part 2 and is now building up NaruxHina in order to keep us guessing and spice things up. Now as for all this Sakura hate. I agree with people that she is stupid for liking Sasuke considering that he was always a **** to her except for one scene out of 500. However, as for this pain she is causing Naruto he chose to chase after Sasuke on his own. Sure the fact that he loves her was a factor but we all know that the main reason he is after Sasuke is that they are like brothers and he does not want him to keep going down this dark path. It is not Sakura's fault it is Sasuke's. As for her usefullness, sure she hasn't won a fight since Sasori but the whole point of part 2 was to show how Naruto is slowly building himself up to become Hokage. His father Minato became Hokage because of his skill was admired by the village during the Third great war and Naruto is on the exact same track. Hell, Kakashi my favorite character didn't get to fight anyone after Zabuza until he fought Kakuzu which sucked cause I loved Lightning Blade. Does that make him useless? As for Sakura causing Naruto pain by not getting over Sasuke, Naruto sort of accepted that when he decided that he cared about her. She does deserve some blame for that though on account of how much of a **** sasuke is to her. Either way, this is shaping into a really interesting situation and it all hangs on the balance of the first romance, Naruto and Sasuke and whether they live or die. Now if only Kishimoto would hurry up and release the next Chapter already.

even if hinata dies i dont see naruto being with sakura...
if hinata dies i see naruto never settling down, his relationship with sakura will probably be the likes of Jman and Tsnuades.. where he can flirt but never ever be official..

As for the hand-holding, he also held hands with Ino, Choji, etc. The bottom line is the only one who promised not too let go was hinata because Naruto was only tranferring Chakra.
