i honestly don't know.

but my educated guess leads me to believe that because he is an uzamaki this happens.
the tailed beasts have been said to be made up of natural energy, and we have just seen naruto's ability to hand out chakra.

it could be that excess natural energy is seeping into the wood style. but then why not when naruto is in sage mode..hmm

I think it is because naruto have only yang chakra of kurama which is physical energy and wood release is likely to be yang nature.

Hashi represents younger son meaning he has life-force and yang chakra hashis wood probably uses life-force

naruto only have the yang part of kurama,which represents the life force,the yang release is known as breathing life into physical forms,the wood reacts to the yang chakra's vitality and develop into trees.
it's kinda weird why obito and madara didn't react to it until now,meh probably plot.

Zetsu's are made of Hashirama cells and i bet that the mass that holds Zetsu together is made of wood + something else? (havent done research)
now, however when they get in contact with Yang-Natured chakra the nature power is too strong for the Zetsu Clones, resulting in evolvement/getting out of control...

do you remember when naruto learned Sage Mode? you need the perfect amount of Nature Energy in order to hold the "Sage Mode" but what happens if you can't control it? if you charge too much Nature Energy? yes... you would turn into a frog and later turn into stone?

i think it's pretty much the same thing, Zetsu's can't control the overwhelm of Yang-Chakra (?)

and danzo lost control of hashi's cells when he was on the verge of dying so if obito is weakened a lot he could lose control of hashi's cells
but he has had hashi's cells for most of his life

It's most likely because of Kurama's unique healing power. As we've seen, he seems to be the only Biju able to cloak other people in his chakra to heal them. This life force is so strong, that it even makes the trees sprout.
