I believe he meant when OROCHIMARU performed the Reanimation Jutsu. And the answer to that is a mstery. For one, it would be bad for the character of Itachi. Itachi already fulfilled his purpose, told his hero story, got closure, and drifted on th the afterlife in peace.

CHARACTER wise, I don't think he was in the right mindset. After seeing Itachi and getting closure, he was in a state of unease and questioning the philosophy of life, family, kinship, and morality. All he was really transfixed on was seeing the "one who knows everything" and getting the abswers to all of his newfound questions.

I think he would rather live then die. it's pointless to leave him dead when he could help sasuke even more... but I agree sasuke is probably not ready to bring itachi back yet. Maybe in another 100 chapters?
