This actually happened to me a while back and I'm curious as to why some guys are overprotective. My best friends girlfriend is talking to this guy in the same course as her and my friend is just looking over and talking smack. I know he's my best friend but it's pitiful seeing guys way to overprotective.

To any over protective guys reading this: You don't own your GF so just stfu, she's allowed to have a civilised conversation with another human being.

What are your thoughts on this? Is it due to jealousy, their need to show off or just stupidity?

*Again, he's my best friend but it always pisses me off seeing over protective guys* :sy:

People love control especially us men, it's in our nature to assume the worst. And because we assume so we have an urge to stop it and regulate it.

indeed.. some people have trust issues, some people have compensation issues. you'll never be able to nail it down to one reason.

Yeah, I'm one of those guys. I view a girl as mine, and anyone trying to flirt with her etc. portrays as a threat.. But sometimes when I see other dudes flirting with my girlfriend I think about breaking up with her on the spot. (not lacking in the girl department, but whatever)

Wondering is quite fine but swearing and bitching about the guy she's talking to is pitiful

I'm not like that o.o

I trust my gf, give her space & never act like I have to control her. Key to a good relationship

Flirting is different to a friendly conversation, I just find it ridiculous

Overprotective? Maybe at times, but overall I couldn't care less if she looks at another guy, because I'll be looking at other girls also. Unless we're engaged, I won't be overly protective seeing as I won't be faithful.

What you describe is not overprotective. It is just jealousy.

As for me, when I am in a relationship with a girl, I don't care if she talks to others or whatever. If she flirts with others though, then she can hit the road for all I care.
As for others flirting with her, well if I am with her at the moment how would it even be possible? If I am not, then I don't even know if they do or not so why care? :D

It depends if it's a serious relationship or not. 'Cos if it is, then I'll be pissed but I guess karma's a bitch. But if I'm just in it for shit's and gigs then I don't mind 'cos I've done it quite a few times.

its okay to be a little protective, since it is not related to jealousy or anything related to that, but due to affection.Anyway your friend crosses the limit, his GF is a human being and she has the right to talk to anyone she wishes, but as long as it is not perverted talk,if you know what i mean.
But sometimes boys cant help but wonder.
