Orochimaru and Rock Lee are very similar

they are both very similar to their teachers:
Gai: one of the best taijutsu users ever => Lee: one of the best taijutsu users ever
Hiruzen: knew every jutsu in Konoha => Orochimaru: his dream is to learn every jutsu in NV
they both had no KKG or any hax which forced them to rely on the power they gained from hard work and nothing more
they both fought people who weren't working as hard as them (Gaara, Kimimaro, Sasuke, Itachi) but still got pwned only because the opponents had better natural abilities (Sharingan, sand control, bone element)
but they have never given up
also they both caused some problems to Madara (Orochimaru brought back four ninjas including two Space/Time users and two guys who earned the same nickname as the Sage of the Six path and Lee disconnected him from Juubi)

No one knows what clan Oro Rock Lee came from so to say they came from fooder clans is disingenuous. Using that logic that would mean that Hiruzen also came from a fodder clan was also the favorite of Tobirama.

Sasuke is also the favorite of both Kakashi and Oro so there goes that.

Oro was referred to as a genius so him having to work hard makes no since things come easy to geniuses. I'm guessing you meant they had to work extremely hard but no Oro didn't have to work that hard.

Again don't be disingenuous: Kimmimaro was an overall better shinobi than Lee, who needed to be saved by Gaara and PnJ.

All characters stick it out and never give up (the important ones anyway).

And how can you cause real problems to someone who isn't even trying.

That's not so true, Rock Lee is completely untalented and has only willpower.
Orochimaru was extremely talented, let's say that Oro could be the Hokage if he wanted and Lee will never be no matter how hard he will train.
