How he got his mangekyo is irrelevant he is dead he was only a jumping point for madara to get his ems.

alot of people refer to Tobi's story to sasuke when they first met as their basis for PLOT HOLES regarding a few things.

Lets remember Obito is one of the masters of manipulation, he fed sasuke the truth about Itachi, so he could worm in his lies and manipulation.

To be fair i would have liked to have known how they acheived it, but none the less, we still do not know for sure until it becomes explicitly clear.

Madara stated he died from that wound, could have taken a while, the wound may have damaged Izuna's natural fighting style, making him an easier target than he previously was, leading Madara to say that.

So not certain yet, if he had the mangekyou when he fought Tobirama that time, or after

this chapter took place in a very long time span to be written in just 18 pages, so i think a lot of things happened inside this chapter,

like maybe izuna already had MS but not shown in those panel, or maybe izuna didn't die within just 1-2 days after he hit by hiraishin, maybe he was still able to awaken MS...

well, there's a lot of possibilities, as you can see...

there is a contradiction here, obito said that madara took izuna's eyes while he was still alive, izuna continued to fight without eyes and died in battle.
in hashirama's version, madara told him that izuna died by that wound.

it is either a mistake by kishi, or madara lied to hashirama, he took izuna's eyes and killed him. it is almost impossible for izuna to die from that minor sword wound made by tobirama.
