not at all. I still have to move x,y,z,lambda, and perform the devils math. if I had to do calculations on top of that I would never get anything done

Well they let us use calculators till we are in Senior High . . . . so I think we have it rougher. But U might try Vedic mathematics.. they have some good tricks, helped us a lot.

Using too much calculator's has definetly made me more lazy when it comes to multiplication, division and addition >w<...... I believe that calculators have a role in making our own logical thinking a bit more difficult to solve problems our own self. Its horrible Dx

Okay so, I have a lab practical exam tomorrow and we have to do a lot of math, namely multiplication and long division. The horrible thing is, we can't use calculators.

At the time I was like "Okay, whatever" but tonight I realized I've completely forgotten how to do math by hand. How the hell do you do long division? I completely forgot about adding zeros when doing long multiplication. And oh god, decimals! Decimals everywhere!

My point is, are calculators making us dumber? Should schools encourage teachers to use calculators less and have kids actually learn the stuff?

the kind of math you describe can easily be calculated without a calculator, youll see once you cross a certain line in math, going on without a (scientific) calculator is just a waste of time

The point of this thread was to say that it is simple math and I forgot how to do it. I don't understand the second part you said. It seems contradictory to the first part
