It is not actual "tunneling" but is the instantaneous movement between one space and the other with no time. FTG is a "faster-than-light" technique, but it does not break any fundamental laws of physics, as there is no actual movement going on. He breaks physics to begin with, as there is no such thing as physical teleportation. But yeah, in short, he can escape the huge gravitational pull from a black hole with FTG.
