The girl pretty much ''died'' to defend him. He.. did not say a word to her ever since. Not even during the war, when she pretty much stopped him from giving into the ''dark side''.
I mean, between the Kage Summit and Pain's Invasion, Naruto had all the time in the world to talk to her. He didn't even nod towards her.
I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but it's clear that Hinata's confession did not change Naruto's feelings. During Sakura's fake confession it was easy to see Naruto still was in love with her.
You can argue all that you want, but when you love someone you will find the briefest of moments to talk to her. Naruto didn't say anything to Hinata after she was the only one willing to die to protect him.
It's an endless loop of friendzoning, I swear.
Sasuke friendzones Sakura.
Sakura friendzones Naruto.
Naruto friendzones Hinata.
Next on the list Hinata friendzones Sasuke.
But yeah, what I am getting at is Hinata is nothing but a friend to Naruto. She will always be that weird kid that was hiding in the back. She only had good wishes for him, but she manifested them too late. It's like Sakura and Sasuke. The girl still loves him because of the childhood they had together. So does Naruto love Sakura. She was there when he was young whereas Hinata was stalking from a bush.
Furthermore, I read about some Anime episode during which Naruto supposedly hints at having feelings for Sakura, despite everything.
I guess it's human nature to want what you can't have and reject what will always be available.
