I think it's interesting to hear about what anime/manga you people have seen/read just on a whim or just hearing about it or whatever, and seeing how great it is and that you've missed out on it. There's actually a few people I want to hear this from. Be it any reason you think - the animation, character development, ost or whatever.

While I have not seen it and refuse to watch it, I'm putting Fairy Tail on my list. I don't think it's all great, and the characters don't seem to have much going for them, but I really love the OST for it. Out of all the anime I've seen or heard about, FT's OST has got to be up there with some of the best in my opinion. I'd even consider watching it purely for the music, but then I heard Natsu's voice and not going there.

Right now I'm kinda hooked on Tsuritama aka gay fishing anime. Honestly I thought it would just be about fishing but it's much deeper than that. Just seeing the cast of characters and how it goes about is so great. Not to mention I really love the animation and art style it possesses. I just watched it since I'd seen Akira with his unique look and decided to check it out, just it's better than I thought it would be. Not to mention through watching it I feel so happy to see the journey the main character makes.

What's your choices?

Mine would have to be One Piece xD I always used to think like "Pirates looking for treasure ? Nah..", but after giving it a chance, I'd probably put it above Naruto now ^^

The two that stick out to me would be Urasawa's Monster (in sig) and the Liar Game. I'm on the last 2 volumes for Monster, so I'm nearing the end of it unfortunately :( but it's great nonetheless. I actually didn't like it very much when I read to ~chapter 40 on my first try but after I dropped it, read 20th Century Boys (getting familiar with Urasawa's style), and tried it again, I'd rate it 10/10.

As for the Liar Game, it just fits my style. The things these characters come up with to beat the game is just amazing. The games are pretty cool too, such as the minority game where you have to be the minority of the vote to proceed to the next voting stage until only 1 or 2 people are left.

for me it was Moribito. If you haven't heard of it it's about a spear wielding female bodyguard in edo Japan era who recieves a contract from the queen to safeguard her son, Prince Chagum, from her husband, the emperor, assassins he commissioned to kill he son to prevent some great disaster the prince is suppose to bring about.

What I like about this anime is it's art direction, the OST, and the emotional story involved in why Balsa(the main protagonist) became a bodyguard. It's very short about 12 or 13 episodes but a really beautiful and visually stunning piece.

you should check it out.

hum! Well, I watched Mononoke on a whip xd I was listening to some Komatsu's plays of tango classics and Mononoke's op showed up in the recommended videos. And I clicked it xD I loved the OP so much (it was so odd! I wondered if the anime was as odd as the OP sounded) that I decided to look for it. I loved Mononoke. Currently is my second favorite. It's just the kind of stuff I like: horror-like, pretty hectic art-style and direction (it seems to border surreal worlds), deep topics and slightly disturbing scenes.
Here's the op:
