We all know that Kishi takes the elements and myths from our world and applies them to his manga. Since Kishi possibly won't just make up these numbers and references; i thought there might be a relation between 8 gates and 8 triagrams, and i found few stuff that might be interesting; if you do not find it interesting, do not hate or bash; just leave a constructive comment or do not make a comment at all.
Both Hyuuga fighting style and gates are highly related to Feng Shui:
For example; the are 8 triagrams used for representing fundamental principles of reality:
Sky: (Heaven):Summer, South
Wind: Summer:Gentle,Southwest
Water: Autumn, West,
Mountain: Autumn, Northwest
Earth: Winter, North
Thunder: Winter, Northeast
Fire: Spring, East
Lake:Spring, Southeast
Aaaand there are four calestial animals for marking each direction in the triagrams;
East: The Blue Dragon (Spring equinox)
South: The Red Phoenix (Summer solstice)
West: The White Tiger (Autumn equinox)
North: The Dark Turtle (Winter solstice)
These animals are the ones which are related to Gai's techniques
Also,there are "five elements" that are used for explaining cosmic cycle and basicly how life works:
Wood:Green, East, Azure(blue) dragon, New Yang
Fire:Red, south, Vermillion(Red) bird, Full Yang
Earth: Yellow, Center, Yellow dragon, Yin/Yang balance
Metal: White, West, White tiger/Qilin, New Yin
Water: Black, north, black turtoise, Full Yin
You remeber that the daytime tiger Gai used was white, and morning peacock was red because flames right?
There are also 3 lucks in this philosophy which determines what is going on with our life:
Heaven luck:It is our "fate", the things we have born with and we can not change.
Earth luck: This is your environment you live in, the people who are around; basicly it is the combination of things around us.
Human luck:This is you; the choices you make and the hardwork you put in your decisions determines it.
Maybe you do not remember, but after Lee's fight with Gaara, Neji said these words in his mind:"Lee, you never realized it, even at the end, the heavens will not allow a pawn that can only seek the victory at the cost of himself"
I did not understand it at first, but he clearly meant Lee's fate(heaven luck), what he has been born with, but Lee determined his life with his human luck.
So, what about the earth?
In the five elements i've mentioned, the Earth is in the middle of them, somewhat represents the balance between Yin and Yang.
And i have came up with a weird-a** idea; it does not make 100% absolute sense; but it would be cool to happen(but it probably won't lol):
The azure dragon will represent Gai's final technique he will use in 8th gate state, buuut Lee will use something representing yellow dragon; which will surpass Gai's technique, but it may not kill him, because Neji gave him something to maintain the balance and prevent him from dying; but Lee would have to somewhat fight with him, in 617's flashback Neji said something like "One day, lets fight all out with no holds barred, to see which style is supreme, but as long as my eyes have their onyx hue(it means, as long as i am alive), i won't lose to you". Lee did not understand what he meant and said something like "aren't you suppose to change that expression 'as long as my eyes are white'?" theeeen, Neji shrugs it of and says "anyway, remeber that we will always be rivals"...Neji stopped being a douche after his fight with Naruto, so he wouldn't say something like "you sucka will never ever defeat me lulz", and he kinda promised Lee to fighting all way out someday, but how the f**k that s**t will happen? Neji could release chakra and make them effect his opponent's chakra coil system, and we have seen others' fragments of chakra in the others' body, but the technique would be different. The chakra represents spirit in this point; since both Kushina and Minato were able to talk Naruto with their own conciousnesses...This would also give Neji some effect and importance in the war other than dying for a f**king pairing.
The last paragraph is just a thought i wanted to share, there are probably many logical fails in it, so no hate people.
