Kenjutsu are the swordsmanship techniques that shinobi use to strike and cut their opponent down. Techniques that come from kenjutsu usually involve quick swordstrikes to catch an opponent of guard or manipulate their chakra in their swords to produce a certain effect.
Primary swordusers would be the samurai, the 7 swordsmen of the mist and most cloud shinobi but some exceptions also include some leaf ninja, mostly their anbu and rogue ninjas like sasuke.

Your first lesson in Kenjutsu, and physical combat in general. Be specific! You catch it...okay. In what position are your hands currently at? How are your feet placed?

As you throw the bokuto, i reach out my arms to catch it and have my right hand grab the handle while the left hand grab the sheath as i lean forward a little when catching it and stand on my left leg almost getting off balance before putting my right foot down to regain it. I stand straight and start looking at the weapon i would most likely use throughout this training.

Alright, so spread your feet a few inches outside of shoulder width apart. I want you to perform a horizontal slash, and then a descending, vertical cut.

Upon hearing the instructions i put the bokuto near my left hip and bend my knees as i spread my feet off shoulder width apart. Then i perform a horizonal slash with my right hand holding the bokuto near my left hip from my left to right and in a continuous motion use my left hand to grab the handle with the right as i bring down my arms to make a vertical slash.

Good. Now how would you defend differently from a horizontal and vertical attack?

I would have the sword near me as i position it vertically to the right with the tip of the sword pointing downwards to defend the horizontal slash and then use the other persons momentum to lift their sword and push it up while in continuous motion step closer as i point the tip of my sword to stab their unguarded bodies.

Or did you want me to describe something else?

That's what I wanted. Now what about a forward slash coming from above aimed at your forehead?

i would position my sword infront of me holding with my right hand almost diagonally with the tip of the sword pointing to the upper-left for me to meet the opponents blade and then would step to the left side of where my sword is positioned and use my left hand to push the blunt edge of my sword upwards to have the opponents sword slide down while i deal a horizontal slash to their throat from right to left with both hands holding the handle.

Now let's try a technique and see how you do..

(Ken Rendan no Jutsu) - Sword Barrage Technique
Rank: C
Type: Offensive
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 10
Damage points: 25
Description: With this technique, the user will make a sequence of slashes with their sword and finishes with a powerful final slash dealing liberal damage to their enemy.

This is a pretty lenient technique, there are no specific parameters of where you HAVE to strike them, so it's a nice technique to use when you need a basic technique to block/counter your enemy.

I run at you to perform an upward slash from right to left with both hands holding my sword and in a continuous motion lean forward with my right hand holding the sword to pierce your throat, i bring back my arm to deal a horizonal slash from my left to right which ends in me pulling my sword across the ground to toss sand in your eyes before bringing both my arms upwards to deal a downward vertical slash which deals 'liberal damage'.

Oops, was that you sensei?:p

Nope, just an explosive clay clone. >_O Use training dummies from now on.

(Ikari Nomikomu no Jutsu) - Fury Swallow Technique
Rank: C
Type: Offensive
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 10
Damage points: 25
Description: The user punches the opponent a few times and finishes them with two final slashes with their blade or sword.

So because this technique requires you to punch your opponent first, it would be best to draw your sword afterwords. It needs to be a quick draw, with quick slashes to best utilize the speed this technique offers.

I run at the dummy before dealing a straight forward punch to its stomach along with a right uppercut followed by a few jabs and ends with a strong right to its left side. At that moment i immediately unsheathe my blade with my right hand as i bend my knees slightly to slash its midsection once horizonally followed by a downward vertical slash with both hands as learned first in the small practice before.

Nice job. Next up..

( Enjin Ranbu ) - Circular Wild Dance
Rank: C
Type: Attack
Range: Short
Chakra cost: N/A
Damage points: 25
Description: The user spins with his tantō, hitting the target several times.

Hold it with one hand on the hilt, with the blade pointing outwards. Then spin towards your right, holding the tanto out. Your spinning movement will cut my clone deeper than just a normal slash. Try 2 or three rotations.
