Alot of people believe that fire is Samehada's "weakness" based him complaining about cutting Itachi's fireball in half.

1. Taste preference:
Samehada has shown to have taste preference when it comes to absorbing chakra.

Flavor is important when it comes to Samehada. Thats why he ate so much of Bee's chakra by a swing. I remember some people argue that because he was able to take so chakra from Bee, one swipe from Samehada, with lower chakra reserved will be screwed. But that is not the case because it always depends how much Samehada like the taste/flavor of each individual chakra. An example would be Samehada absorbing Kyuubi chakra:

Samehada should of done more then just absorbing Kyuubi chakra Naruto was building up.

Limitation and Chakra Mass :
Samehada is no Pretra Path. Unlike Samehada Pretra Path is able to consume all chakra at one point.

This is important because this explains why he didn't absorb itachi's fire as a WHOLE. The Size and Mass determines whatever how much Samehada can absorb at once

Also keep in mind that he has fought with an opponent who had lava release( To say that he is weak against fire sounds silly when facing a lava style user when Samehada seem to be in good condition about it):

A question for NarutoBase lets picture that Bee knows fire release. Replace his lightening release with fire:

Imagine all of this was enhance with fire instead. Do you really think Samehada would complain about the Mass and Size quality that he will absorb from it?

OP, please add this too.

Samehada absorbs majority of a technique's chakra AFTER it gets hit with the technique.

We see that when bee's blade made contact with samehada it still had enough raiton to cause the blade to make a big dent in the side of the sword:

Then we see here that bee's headbutt gets absorbed before it makes contact because his aura is touching samehada before that happens (his sword is still touching samehada):

Later it becomes clear that Samehada takes the technique's chakra AFTER receiving damage since instead of simply blocking bee's V1 stab, it decides to dodge it (because it would get damaged) and then absorb his cloak chakra:

Finally conclusive proof arrives when we see V2 lariat hit samehada. We see that right after Samehada takes the hit, not only is almost none of bee's chakra absorbed, but even the chakra horns have penetrated through samehada (though they have been slightly absorbed):
You must be registered for see images

So this should be good enough proof that samehada does not function like preta path and that before it absorbs the chakra of a technique, it's going to take most of the damage of whatever part of the technique it absorbs.

though for most techniques this shouldn't be a big issue considering it doesn't take fatal damage from something as strong as Bee's V2 lariat.

I think Samehada could fought with lava release because of water release used by Kisame.

Also I think Samehada can absorb chakra from physical objects only, which mean it can't absorb a jutsu or something like this, that is the main difference between Samehada and preta path.

He has absorbed Lightening Release and Fire Release. I'm sure it is reasonable to say that the other elements aren't safe either. But then again Chakra Mass, Quality, and Size do matter of how much he will.

The nine tailed chakra didn't do a nature affiliated attack it was pure chakra and it in large amounts that semehada took a liken to.
The fireball however was nature oriented remember even though semehada is a weapon its also a symbiotic parasite meaning it has some level of sentience.

It could not withstand the amount of chakra and heat from the justu.Even one of the scans you posted prove this when kisame mentions that roshi wasn't a common jinchuuriki and was difficult to defeat. He goes on to elaborate the difficulty by explaining that roshi used lava release.

Which would indicate that semehada does indeed have a weakness to katon.

He absorbed lighting release from Bee's pen, I don't remember seeing it absorb fire release, it only cut through Itachi's jutsu.

Scans never said anything about it being its weakness. We known about Buuju's chakra reserves so it is reasonable to say why he would have trouble fighting its lava release. The point is, it was in perfect condition.

Lightening release should be hotter then Fire but you don't see Samehada complaining

Because of it's size and personal taste. The sword doesn't absorb like pretra.

Good thread but I have to disagree

It should be noted
Kisame suiton
Bee raiton

Kisame can make up for samehada weakness of fire unlike bee

It should also be noted size matters not that was plain foolish to say...

Kisame absorbed 6 tails worth of chakra which is far larger than a simple great fireball jutsu
Water dome great shark missile absorb chakra aswell this is y samehada would have no problem with 4 tails

Now I bet u didn't think about when guy used morning peacock which caused fire & didn't kisame lose then ...
