Hirudora was only used to widen the area of his attacks so that he could get both kisame and the remaining sharks so that it wouldnt make off with any intel. Guy could still speedblitz Kisame himself like he did before and kill him before kisame transforms.

This is true.

I think Kisame is the strongest ninja that Gai can beat and is one of Kisame's absolute worst match ups. I still don't get how Hirudora overpowered Kisame's suiton. Shouldn't they have cancelled each other out or water should have won since water>fire.

kisame's weakness to afternoon tiger is nullified when he has samehada. because whatever chakra he has taken from gai before that can be used to heal his injury. or trap gai in water doem and let his ass drown. bee was insanely fast too. it didnt much help

When Gai enters gates, water dome becomes useless and Kisame can be disarmed so Samehada becomes a non factor.
