Honestly, two of the worst characters in Naruto are Hidan and Kakuzu. It's only fitting they were paired together.
Now Hidan is a worse offender here; he has practically zero depth as a character, and I've seen in recent threads that people love him. Why exactly?
Some people like the simplicity of a villain that's true intentions are just evil, no grey area. Just black and white EVIL. Personally, I like my villains to have a reason behind their madness, but some others apparentely just like bad guy make bad things happen.
Hidan has no back story; We know he got immortallity from a god and enjoys killing people. That's it. There's a reason there wasn't much of a role for him in the story, since he was a one-dimensional character.
Hidan just doesn't make SENSE, either. Hidan can only die by malnutrition, but people often confuse the meaning of malnutrition.
Malnutrition is generally though of as being starved or not eating. While this applies to malnutrition, the definition is much broader. Malnutrition is the LACK of nutrients. One could eat and eat and eat, but if they arn't getting the RIGHT nutrients, they will be malnourished.
How does this apply to Hidan?
Let's say Hidan gets his head cut off, which he has been shown to he invulnerable to. The blood SHOULD pour out of his head, and what does the blood carry? Nutrients. So, in a way, the lack of blood will kill Hidan because of malnutrition. So even then, his invulnerability should be negated!
But back on topic. I really don't get why people love Hidan. I think it's apparent that I dislike him, but I made this thread in hopes that I can be enlighted as to why people love Hidan?
Is it his sheer simplicity?
(Kakuzu is almost the same way, except people don't love him as much.)
