Earth release or Doton is one of the five chakra natures in naruto. Earth is one of most versatile out of the five elements, since it can be used as a solid defense, or as a solid attack.
Earth release is strong against water since earth has the ability to suck up and absorb the water causing it to transform into mud. It can also be used as a dam, preventing the flow of water. Earth release is weak against is lightning, since lightning can travel through the ground, breaking it up.
Three earth release users are: Kitsuchi, Kurotsuchi and Ōnoki.

Explosive depends on the context on which you say it but your right with it coming from the ground.Earth is stable and often used for structures/supports.Now before we begin not earth jutsu have to have contact with the ground and when going through each jutsu I want you to state if it needs contact or not okay?

So this is probably one of the most used jutsu in the jutsu list due to how versatile it is.You simply channel your earth chakra into the ground around you or mid range and create pillars,shields or any tools which are all small in size which I would roughly say one meter.Now give this a try and perform a pillar,shield and a tool of your choice.I would also like you to find a picture and mention how you would use this along with its strengths and weakness.

(Doton No Jutsu) - Earth Release Technique
I begin by channeling my earth chakra into the ground beneath us allowing me to create a single pillar that emerges in between us. The pillar is one meter in height. After creating the pillar, I manipulate the earth, creating a shield of earth that has a diameter of one meter. I then create a kunai that is created from earth. I use shape manipulation to shape the earth into a real life kunai.
I would use this jutsu as many things. One of these are as a distraction. I would create a pillar of earth from behind someone, creating a opening for a attack. I would use this as a attack, creating a blunt pillar of earth to attack someone in places that would make it hard for them to defend from such as in between their legs.
I would also use this to get me out of projectiles, or an incoming jutsu, e.g creating two pillars of earth that are strong enough to propel me into the air avoiding a jutsu.
Its strengths would be its a versitle jutsu, as said before it can be used as a attack,defense or a tool. Its elemental weakness would be lightning jutsu's easily tearing it apart, and since its an earth jutsu, it would create some noise erupting from the earth.

Now then this one is to be used in conjunction with a specific jutsu to get the best 'value' out of its use.You simply need to be underground to use this jutsu and approach the target and go underneath her/she.You then pull the target done once you pop up which happens at the same time.The target is then left with just his head showing if used right.I would also like you to find a picture and mention how you would use this along with its strengths and weakness.

I surface pulling their legs down into the ground, while I resurface. I stop pulling their legs, when their head is the only thing that is visible with their rest of their body is underground. Once they are caught and immoblised, I decapitate their head with my kunai.
I would only use this jutsu if my opponents vision if blurred or if they are blinded, because if they arn't and see you go into the ground, they can easily turn the ground into a swamp killing you. But if they are blinded, you can easily catch them off ground, by creating a clone and the real you hides underground.
Strengths of this jutsu is that it can be used to avoid incoming attacks or to simply hide from a enemy
Weakness is that the user can create a armor from lightning or use nagashi as soon as they feel contact on their legs.
