^^^ this explains it. Mokuton does absorb and suppress chakra but amatarasu isn't pure chakra. Common sense: fire burns on wood and wood makes it more active.

That was "defensive" eton flames plus sand has a high melting point so that would be burning forever

The problem with amaterasu is that it has different type of burning, for example when jiraya trapped itachi and kisame inside a rock toad's stomach, itachi used amaterasu and it was capable of burning through the stomach instantly.
This incedent was mentioned in databook 2 page 200 : "The black flames that only the owner of the Mangekyou Sharingan can control
are even able to instantly break through the side of a rock toad who breathes
fire!!"
So my guess is that amaterasu's properties (heat, size and speed) are under the user's control, and enton is only capable of reshaping the flames.
What I'm saying is that in theory, amaterasu should burn mokuton jutsus easily... Yet again madara never used it against hashirama.

Just a quick thread going out to all debaters, dont you thinkthat if fromm what we have seen in the manga about amatarasu being slow burning, mokuton being a resilient as it is will render ammy uselss since of course mokuton is a durable element not to mention chakra infused

Hence people saying amatarasu burning things like mokuton style forest and wood dragon is just giving the mokuton user at an advantage because then he would have ammy flames on his would that he can then use against you. it either forces the user of ammy to dispel flames or get hit with the flames

what do you guys think?

I disagree but I do see where your getting at with producing more wood but their are properties of Amaterasu that you haven't calculated.

When does durable mean indestructible like you are making it out to be. Tsunade destroyed Mokuton before, Rasengan has, Susano'o Arrows pierced it. Jinton destroyed it.

First of all, the user of amaterasu can still stop it, so if the enemy uses it against him in the way you described it would be quite futile..

This said, you also need to know the difference between burning wood, and burning flesh. Both doesn't burn at same speed, so if you consider that, and especially how fast flames spread across wood, I would say no, amaterasu > wood element.

Of course there is the thing that amaterasu seems to require much more chakra compared to the area it can burn, whereas mokuton can be re-created, when it is burnt down, so it is still a perfect defense against amaterasu, although even Hashirama doesn't seem to be able to create mokuton fast enough to use it as a shield.
