Madara's level of power is beyond what Itachi can manage, even if Itachi could counter his EMS & Kurama with the Yata Mirrior he would quickly wear down which would provide an opening for Madara to finish him or he would simply die from exhaustion, people forget that Itachi was sickly & nigh blind, his stamina ratings are lower than even the aged Hiruzen, while Itachi is a very gifted shinobi his stamina forces him to finish battles quickly, in engagements where that was not an option he immediately retreated (Jiraiya), Itachi's only hope would be the Totsuka blade, but Madara is far too resourceful for that to be used effectively before Itachi succumbed to exhaustion.shodaimeicon:

sasuke never saved him, itachi called out to sasuke to throw the sword when he was cut in half, but in reality it was all pre planned, itachi wanted kabuto repeat the same action that he did before so that izanami loop can be completed

itachi could easily reverse the sound genjutsu like he did with kurenai but he had to save sasuke too so he went with the partner method
