tbh I watched the entire part one and began watching shippuden after reading the itachi vs sasuke fight at my library. then i stopped watching and restarted watching during pain arch because my library had a new chapter now i actively follow the manga and anime

I thought he was a bit too obnoxious at first, but I started feeling sympathetic for him when he reached out to Gaara after their fight.
Then my liking for him solidified during the Sannin Fight.
The way he stood by his principles against Kabuto and put his life on the line to defend Tsunade was worthy of a lot of respect.
