My theory is that "MADARA" appeared to FUGAKU(who interpreted it as a PREMONITION from "MADARA UCHIHA"
Who told him Madara's Life Story, and told him to keep the Uchiha away from the Leaf during the Attack

Fugaku spoke to itachi of his beliefs and way of thinking....Maybe he wanted a better life for his kid's future.
But maybe Obito posed as Madara A ghost of the Uchiha via Kamui which looks supernatural(seems believable)
and like he did to everyone else (including 5 kages) convinced them that he WAS MADARA Uchiha
notice how deidara is in "aww" of itachi(looks supernatural like deity)character superiority

• "madara" appeared via KAMUI as a(what seemed like)GHOSTLY apparition(premonition) to Fugaku(uchiha leader)
• "madara" told him to keep Uchiha away from Leaf before the attack started
• told them to leave the kids, which seems like a regular night out on the town(and not a big plot if you leave your kids)

Your theory makes a lot of sense. I could see how Tobi would manipulate Fugaku and get him to think he will destory Konoha but keep the Uchiha's safe and in reality he and Danzo were setting them up to make it look like they were responsible for the Kyuubi.

It's very much plausible that Obito told Fugaku about the actual history, posing as Madara that how the Senju Clan betrayed him, as I firmly believe Izuna was killed by one of their clan members.

Seeing this stance and the fact that they were being segregated despite their loyalty through out the decades; it would stir anyone to think and act against the oppression and racism brought about my Senju Clan's second Leader. While I don't believe he would have appeared as a ghost, but it's highly possible he met up with Fugaku, posing as Madara.

Great Theory anyway. Another history lesson.
