[Discussion] Luffy with the Mera Mera no Mi?

I know this topic has been brought up so many times but I just need to get this off my shoulders.

Ever since chapter 700, there has been constant discussion between two sides. With one side saying that Luffy will eat the Mera Mera no Mi and one side saying that he won't eat it. In my opinion, I like the idea of Luffy actually getting the Mera Mera no Mi, it would be like having a personal memento from his brother. But if he doesn't get it, then I'm okay with that. But for those who say that Luffy won't get it, they need to take a lot of things into consideration.

Think about it, without the Mera Mera no Mi, how would Luffy be able to face all the top tiers in the New World? There's is only so much that Luffy could do with rubber. This includes Haki as well, and I'm pretty sure we all know that at some point Luffy's highest form of Haki will be this.

But even with that level of Haki, would that really give him the edge he needs to face the Yonko, or even Akainu.

I'm just pointing this all out that's all, I mean if Luffy doesn't get the Mera Mera no Mi than I'll be okay with that.

I wouldn't mind seeing Luffy with the Mera, he does need to get stronger, but he might choose to do something else with the fruit, after he whoops Doflamingo's assistant, I forgot his name...

I'm not too fond of Luffy gaining the Mera Mera no Mi because he's been a Rubber Man for so long. I'd rather see him become uber strong like he's been doing, combining his battle genius and his rubber body.

I hope luffy gets it but i don't think he will the whole rubber thing with him seems to make him who he is. What if naruto gets the rinnrgan thats to op for him and it just be the same way with luffy. luffy will find away to beat the crao out of everybody with his own power sanji might get it which would be nice

Knowing Luffy he will keep the fruit but not sure he will have it .......

Coby sounds more plausible the Luffy. He doesn't "need" to have it. Look at Shanks. One arm and is a Yonkou. How about Mihawk? He is the strongest swordman and he doesn't have a devil fruit. What about Garp. In his prime he went toe to toe with the pirate king. Haki is much stronger then people think. With Luffy's speed advantage in gear second, and being a haki monster, he really wouldn't need much else.

how come theres a mira mira fruit?
if luffy does get it, will he still be able to use rubber?
if yes, how does that work? since i thought you cant have 2 devil fruit powers?

I think you are slightly underestimating Oda in this matter. He has always surprised us, and in good ways at that, so I can't really see what's different this time. He's had more than 15 years to think about Luffy's development, so something like this wouldn't, or shouldn't, be a problem for him.

There's no way in Hell Oda will stab us in the back and give Luffy a powerful fruit! Read his interviews God dammit! If he does than my respect for him will drop 10-fold since he'll incredibly **** up one of the reasons he chose to write this manga.

The only SH that should eat it is Luffy in my opinion. But I'm not sure if he will. If he does, then awesome. I would love to see that.
