Gays in the military

Being gay doesn't affect anything. It's no different from being straight aside from who you're attracted to. That does not define out country, affect your religion, or have anything to do with someone's physical performance for the army.

Gays are in the military that ship has sailed. Nobody cares. My first roommate in AIT was gay. He was clean and he didnt snore. All you can ask for in a guy you're sharing a ten by ten with. The only argument that could legitimately be made against gays would be accepting gay marriage. In the army we have what's called contract marriages. Because if you are legally married you get paid a little more and they pay your rent. Plus you don't have to live in the barracks which are typically worse than the projects. So in theory two dudes could get married and defraud the government into paying their rent and just chill.

I'd remind him that the gay man wants to protect his country, and likely has no intention of fanoodling him in his sleep. If he remains vigilant in his fear that said gay man does want to fanoodle him, than I'd remind him that he is likely just fantasizing about the gay man, and he himself, is a gay man in the military.

The only down side I see to it, is how would you handle living quarters and the barracks situation?? We don't have coed barracks because the amount of sexual harassment reported would just spike..and nooobody likes to sit through a sexual harassment brief everytime there's an incident lol And I made the coed comparison because it's very similar (if not the same) to gay men sharing showers with other men and vice versa..its like throwing a match in a box of fireworks and praying none of them go off

In our barracks they just moved the females to one side of the top floor. Still a whole company of dudes sharing their hallway. We haven't had a sexual harassment problem in forever. Still get the briefs. My command is more obsessed with DUIs which ironically in the last brief they showed majority of them came from E-6 to O-2. And then they bitch about our barracks parties...

Someone responded that, gays are human too. Ive just been playing devils advocate on the issue, and if you brought that arguement to any of these god fearing, hate mongers, that is what they would say.
