Why Did Kakashi's Attack Miss against Pain?

When these two first encounter each other and Kakashi uses earth style and then his chidori/lightning blade whatever to hit Deva Path Pain, you see the rinnegan eyes somehow making Kakashi miss but this only happens in this moment, it didn't happen with Jiraya or Naruto. What happened there?

Is it a technique or something?

its because of the black rod pain is using to disrupt chakra. chakra = sharingan also. Same thing happened to jiraiya and naruto. Re-read manga sir

This. Being stabbed by pain's black chakra rods gave him slight control over kakashi's actions which allowed him to shift his attack slightly.

It's also what nagato tried to do to naruto when facing him in person, however naruto's chakra was strong enough to resist it.

Wasn't he stabbed by a chakra rod right before he tried it? I thought at first he was just in shock of seeing Pain's eyes until i remembered he already knew about them. It's possible Pain control his chakra with the rods like he did the other 5 paths.
