[Discussion] Is it wrong to have a blood transfusion?

What if your child has to undergo blood transfusion and the doctor insist that if he/she does not take this procedure your child would die. What would you do?

Although it might be the right choice there is risk involving AIDS, hepatitis, and malaria. I'm sure you would want the best treatment for your children but is there anything else you would give? You would do anything to protect your child from harm, right?

blood only acts as a volumiser for 18 hours after the transfusion before it is assimilated into the body, so in an emergency situation a saline solution is as effective.

there are prevalent non-blood solutions from surgical tools to medicines in non-emergencies.

the risk of ilness thrugh blood transfusion is(in my country at least) extremely low...cause not anyone can donate blood...the donated blood has beeen checked and tested like 300 times ^^ but i the us its different, since u can earn money for donating blood..everyone donates there..i think

That might have been a problem a few decades ago. Now hospitals check blood for diseases like that beore giving to to patients. So of course the child should get a blood transfusion.

Blood is checked before it's given to someone and no it's not wrong to get a blood transfusion it saved my life three times and I will never forget those who helped me!

My daughter had to have a blood transfusion when she was 22 months old. I'm not a doctor, but I do trust that they know what they're talking about especially when it is a serious illness. She's 5 now so I have nothing to regret.
