Why on earth was Gaara's sand green???

Am I the only one who found it weird that Gaara's sand was coloured green? Was this an animation error? Or is it meant to depict that Gaara is using the sand from beneath the grass below, but then if that is the case, we should still see some sand-coloured sand AND green grass, not just weird green sand? And if that weird green grass is meant to a combination of Gaara's normal sand-coloured sand and gold sand, that still makes little sense because sand-colour and gold mixed together do not make any sort of the colour green? So what the hell happened???

gaaras sand was mixed with mizukages oil. i guess it green because of the oil. OIL.

The oil and the sand probably reacted, and formed green sand as a product.
If not, then the Animators probably made a mistake.
