I really doubt it was because he was denied the Hokage position. He was conducting terrible experiments at the time, if he were to become Hokage then he would have to stop his search for immortality. To Oro, immortality>>>>>>>>Hokage title.

If he became Hokage he still would have researched immortality. He would have had the Leaf at his disposal. He probably would have accomplished his goal sooner.

Maybe. This seems more legit than his attacking konoha because he didn't become hokage. His interest in Edo Tensei may have stemmed from their death.
