With this past chapter seeing Hashirama's thousand hand technique or whatever, I've noticed that Senju (rinnegan included) techniques seem to have Buddhist undertones, as Uchiha/Sharingan techniques seem to have Shinto undertones. All Sharingan moves are named after Shinto deities. And even the story is similar to Shinto myths.

Also I'm assuming that the circle and dot that appeared on Hashirama's forehead, when he entered Sage Mode, signifies the Third Eye. You will also notice that his real eyes change in appearance to the same shape.

Whatever type of Sage Mode he has probably deals with the Third Eye some how. More in the way of having access to Nature Chakra, as in the way that the Third Eye supposedly helps with a person's chakras and what not. And I didn't read too much into his eyes changing. All of the other characters that used some form of Sage Mode had their eyes change too.

I haven't pondered this thought much as it just came to me after re-reading the chapter, so if the idea of the two clans having different religious background is inaccurate I apologize. However assuming this is the case, is anyone with more knowledge on these religions willing to speculate on the significance of this? How do the Uzumaki factor into this? Could this foreshadow something?

It's probably irrelevant, but it's food for thought. ^_^ just a little bored here lol

Edit: Credit to Almighty Ra for also thinking of this.

Dude, almost everything in Naruto has undertones of Buddhism, Shintoism, and or Japanese mythology.

Yes, the manga is heavily influenced by eastern mythology particularly Buddhism and Shintoism, nice work! xd

I know nothing about those religions, but it seems plausible. I like it.

Nah, it's just that Kishi likes to use things from religions for jutsus. Example, Susanoo.

Just found this off wikipedia.........
"In Japanese mythology, Susanoo, the powerful storm of Summer, is the brother of Amaterasu, the goddess of the Sun, and of Tsukuyomi, the god of the Moon. All three were born from Izanagi, when he washed his face clean of the pollutants of Yomi, the underworld. Amaterasu was born when Izanagi washed out his left eye, Tsukuyomi was born from the washing of the right eye, and Susanoo from the washing of the nose. Susanoo possessed Totsuka-no-Tsurugi, a sword his father used to tear the body of his brother Kagu-Tsuchi, as his weapon."

Yeah I've seen that before.
