Now, don't get me wrong. I've always respected them for being Konoha's Hokages- especially Hashirama because of his Will of Fire ideology. He's always seemed to have that kind of mindset ever since he was young (proven by Chapter 622).
But dude, knowing that your own brother was killed in war by your rival clan and yet not wanting revenge and still being able to hold on to such a peaceful idea... I don't know, I'd probably find it hard to forgive if I was in their situation.
