Well an anime IS just a Japanese word for cartoons. So that's exactly what they are.

Japan just has different cultural attitudes to it and it's more acceptable to make more mature and adult cartoons. A shonen, fight anime about magic ninjas is pretty standard as it comes. Like, Teen Titans sort of credibility.

Pretty sure anime comes from the word animate, or to bring to life. That's exactly what anime does: it brings a story to life.

Naruto anime is kinda lame and childish don't you find? especially first 90 episodes and not to mention to get to the point deep/charecters and so on you need to go thrue 140+ episodes

yeah iadmit that show can be funny sometimes but in the end its just a cartoon
but some people on here call Naruto a cartoon

Yes but that's what a cartoon does too. There's nothing even wrong with the word cartoon, it's just the connotations that people have given it childishness.
