First off I'd like to thank Derek1st as he triggered this thought in my head with his thread involving Sasuke's developement of Enton! I'd also like to thank Rzm117 for reminding me about a recent chapter on the Sharingan's formation!
So, we all know that the Uchiha clan members gain extremely powerful powers with their MS, but oddly there is a variety amongst their abilities.
Obito: Kamui
Sasuke: Enton
Itahi: Tsukiyomi
Madara: Perfect Susanoo
Shisui: Koto Amatsukami
I believe there may be two things that determine abilities.
1. Direct Uchiha family
2. Personality and situation upon unlocking the MS.
Despite being one clan, the Uchiha had families within themselves as noted by Sasuke's direct family within the clan...I think this may have a small tie in to the powers that an individual recieves. WHY?! Because Itachi, Sasuke, and Madara all have almost identicle abilities; however, they perfected different areas. Itachi: Tsukiyomi, Sasuke: Amaterasu, Madara: Susanoo. Shisui and Obito on the other hand, have had absolutely no indication of these three abilities, and instead had unique abilities.
First off, Rzm117 reminded me that the Sharingan forms from emotional despair, and this leads to the corruption of love into hatred in most cases.
As such, it is plausible that personality and situation does in fact play a role in the sharingan in the first place! Let's look at individual cases to further showcase how the personalities and situations determined their unique abilities!
Obito: He unlocked his ability while seeing the love of his life take a chidori to the heart. Upon doing so he questioned this reality, and found himself wanting to escape this living hell...as such, his MS allowed him to do that. It created an alternate realm of space that simply took him away from the world he hates.
Sasuke: As Derek1st pointed out, Sasuke learned to stop Amaterasu's flames in his desire to not only keep Killer Bee from dying, but to also save his friends (Karin specifically). This is also heavily supported by the fact he sees Team 7 just before awakening Amaterasu on his own volition! In addition, Sasuke's war path like desire for revenge (opposite of Itachi) gave him the need for a combat ability, and hence controllable Amaterasu AKA: Enton.
Itachi: First of all Itachi is a pacifist who hates fighting. So naturally he would gain the power of Tsukiyomi. This way, he has an extremely powerful genjutsu that allows him to defeat foes without killing them.
Madara: Madara is all about power. What better way to show this off than by having something that embodies power and terror....Perfect Susanoo gives him the best chance of doing so. A massive body with traditional Samurai appearances is honestly just a terrifying sight in and off itself.
Shisui: Shisui along with Itachi wanted to stop the Uchiha from rebellion! As such, he desperately needed a methode of persuasion: Koto Amatsukami...the ability to control an individual without them knowing! Unfortunately, Danzo had taken his eyes before he could enact this plan...and we know the rest!
While there may be other factors that play into overall learning of abilities (for instance, Sasuke will likely find a way to obtain the Perfect Susanoo), I think it is fair to say these might be theoretical possibilities into why they all have different abilities, or specialize at different abilities within common abilities!
Thank you for the read!
