I find it odd that Madara didn't retrieve the Rinnegan from Nagato when he acquired the allegiance and servitude of Obito. Madara needed Nagato to further awaken the Rinnegan's power, but if all the Rinnegan needed was the combination of both Senju and Uchiha DNA to awaken its' full potential then he could've given it to Obito instead.
Take a look at Madara's statement, he said that Obito's half is made of Hashirama's cells, and the other half is definitely Uchiha DNA, which makes him Senju+Uchiha in one body, if this is what's all that's needed to awaken the Rinnegan's full power, then why didn't Madara ordered Obito to retrieve the Rinnegan from Nagato? (considering that if Nagato only has Senju DNA through his Uzumaki ancestry, then Obito being both Uchiha+Senju would be a better host) but Madara didn't order Obito to retrieve the Rinnegan, and in fact, he pointed out the fact that Obito couldn't have awaken the Rinnegan's full powers, but he was only able to control the Gedo Mazo by having both Senju+Uchiha DNA within him. So why then didn't Madara order Obito to retrieve it? and, even if we work on the premise that Obito didn't follow Madara's orders, then he surely would have taken the Rinnegan himself without having to wait for Nagato to fully awaken its' power if Obito was able to do it himself.
Which leads me to believe that Obito, even having both Senju+Uchiha DNA, would still have been incapable to further awaken the Rinnegan.
Why then was Nagato the only suitable host of the Rinnegan's awakening?
It is my suspicion, that Nagato, being an Uzumaki, was the only one capable of awakening the Rinnegan's full powers because Rikudou Sennin himself was an Uzumaki It would make logical sense since what Madara did to initially awaken the Rinnegan was reverse engineering the original Rinnegan of Rikudou Sennin by combining both the dominant genetic traits of Uchiha and Senju: The Eyes(Yin) and the body(Yang) of the Sage, Madara was only able to awaken the Rinnegan per se through this artificial means, but he needed someone who naturally possesses both Senju and Uchiha DNA to awaken its' full powers, meaning the Uzumaki blood that Nagato has is the original bloodline of the Sage of the Six Paths.
PS: Rikudou Sennin's Image in the Gedo Mazo in ch. 606, The Uzumaki Symbols appear on Rikudou Sennin:
Along with what appears to be a scroll on his back, probably the Scroll of Seals that Naruto stole in chapter 1:
UPDATE
Madara never hinted that Obito has the capacity to awaken his own Rinnegan
What applies to Madara doesn't necessarily apply to Obito, and I don't think that in any dialogue Madara gave any hint that Obito could unlock the Rinnegan himself, even for the sake of argument we assume Madara was referring to Obito's potential of awakening the Rinnegan in that panel, why would he verbalize hesitation of Obito's capacity to awaken it "even if you don't awaken the Rinnegan" instead of "Even if you don't immediately awaken the Rinnegan" if it was really just senju+uchiha dna that's all that's needed to unlock it? Therefore, it is only logical for Madara to refer to his own Rinnegan's further awakening and not Obito's.
