Why did they appear at seperate times?
I mean when he was fighting pain that would of been a perfect time to teach him how to control his power instead of learning to restrain himself from it.
It kinda makes no sense why and how they appeared at different times...

Minato preset their chakra so that their embodiments activate at certain times or events
when Naruto was about to remove the seal minatos chakra activated so that minato could stop the nine tails transformation
When Naruto actually removed the seal and challenged the nine tails kushinas chakra activated
Minato already planned for Naruto to challenge the nine tails when he sealed him so he preset kushinas chakra to guide him

Check out Shippuden episode 168. Minato says "I worked it into the seal spell so that I would appear within your psyche should the seal be broken to the point you sprouted the eighth tale" That's why Minato stops Naruto from completely breaking the seal in the prior episode.

no the seal was broken to the point where he gained 8 tails and Minato stepped in to prevent him from fully breaking the seal off.
