If he had used either of those on the alliance it would mean Obito's death as well. And if Obito had become intangible to avoid those, his connection with the Juubi would have been severed resulting in both of them losing control over it.

That's not necessarily true... at all. In my case, when I say "it's getting too long and/or boring", I'm talking about the content within the War itself like the talking or the failed attempts of the Shinobi Alliance, who then pump themselves up for another attack and then fail. The War could last for as long as Kishi wants (exaggeration people, don't hold me to it).

I completely agree on this but I really don't see your point. Madara just arrived there, no one is complaining for that.
Actually Kishimoto isn't even dragging the war, it's been only 3 days since it started.

it's kishi's fault for his poor pacing of the war, interesting potential fights and crap that we wanted to see like kakashi's rampage all happened off panel, or within a few pages, and now that Madarama and the juubi is out, Kishi's having to draw out the action to keep from ending the war too quickly, and every other page is naruto or Obito talking, and the whole shinobi alliance helping to fight juubi is just awkward at best.

Also , the war can't end quickly because of the plot scaling. In any fictional series, every threat needs to be bigger than the last, so the danger appeals to the audience. Now we got a supervillain , that killed/incapacitated 5 kages with ridiculous ease , planning to cast a genjutsu on the whole world. It's hard to get beyond that so the highest possiblity is if the world ends, the manga does too . I mean imagine the war having a good ending, like madara and obito dying, naruto defeating the juubi. What on earth could happen after , to keep the manga going?
