Can you expain that. I don't quite remember this. ^^
Read this manga scan:

Basically, in order to summon a toad, you need to sign your name in blood in the contract. It has nothing to do with Sage Mode. Sage Mode is something you learn by taking in natural energy.

So what will we learn about Sage Mode? Someone said that we will learn sth.. What is it?

I'm sure it's nothing amazing. Japanese readers would have understood it and we'd already know what it said.

That might not even be real kanji, perhaps it's just scribbles to fill up the space.
Exactly this

They look like names to me.
You can't read Kanji, how would you know? I could put the Kanji for Egg next to that scroll and it'd "look like a name"

Sorry. ^^

This is what confused me. I knew about the Kuchiyose no Jutsu.. :>
No problem.

Basically, I think the guy you quoted also thinks that the summoning contract scroll is somehow connected to Sage Mode, but it in fact, isn't. That scroll lets you summon toads, and toads can summon you back to Mount Myokobou, that's it. It has nothing to do with Sage Mode whatsoever.

If you want to learn Sage Mode, you just need to know how to master the use of Natural Energy. The reason Fukasaku (the old toad), showed Naruto that scroll in that manga scan is because Mount Myoboku is really far away and hard to find. A quick solution to this is to simply reverse summon Naruto back to Mount Myoboku, rather than having to walk all the way.

Read these two manga scans and you'll see what I mean:

Will read. One more question. Is it on purpose that Naruto's Sage Mode is a frog and his Kuchiyose a frog as well?

What do you mean by on purpose, do you mean that Kishi deliberately chose to make Naruto's summon a toad on purpose?

If so, I don't know.

But, he obviously has to summon a toad since the contract is a contract with the toads. And yea, Naruto's Sage Mode is similar to the toads because that's the style of sage mode he is learning, but I do not see that being connected with the scroll. I'm pretty sure that if the toads taught you Sage Mode and you didn't have your name on the scroll, you can still learn it.

So the other one is completely unreadable?
Those two large characters are blocking an important part of the sound. The other symbol can be translated, but without the first part, it kinda makes it pointless.

The second character says, "I". (E sound)

The way he/or his artist writes is god awful. Like, Naruto is written in Hirigana and they way the artist wrote it is hard to read, like he is a doctor, lol.

I tried to get a better look in the anime, but Kishi scribbled the characters to the point that it is unreadable.

She said the name next to Jiraiya's is either Honaso or Bonaso. As for the other, that large character is blocking it.
Are the chars next to "Jiraya" Katakana??? Ooops... :shy: :lmao:

Well if you guys have time to check below, that would be great! :)

1. Any idea what bonasu or honasu could mean?

2.I thought the chars on the panel next to bonasu/honasu are
龍 (りゅう)
馬 (ま)
Where does the "i" reading come from?

Well, now I know why my professor of kanji insists we make sure to place the sweeps, stops etc in the correct way.

The kanji on the scroll are hastily drawn, which makes them hard to identify. Especially because the sound effects are blocking several important parts of the kanji. Normally I can look up a kanji without problems if it's drawn reasonably and I can count the amount of strokes, but with the kanji on this scroll, it gives a lot of problems.

The first kanji (I'm taking the ones next to Jiraiya's name, because the last one is barely readable and with the second kanji, the strokes are too close to each other to distinguish the amount of them properly) seems to be the one of Ito, meaning thread or string. (Another reading way is Shi, but considering it's put together with other kanji, I assume it needs to be read as Ito)

The second one is either a badly drawn "i" in katakana or the kanji for To (meaning ten).

The last one I couldn't figure out because a part seems to be whited out thanks to the sound effect in front of it.

Sorry I couldn't help you more :ghehe:
