In this week's manga many people were confused when Madara said "i'm no longer the same foe you once knew".What he was trying to express was that he wasn't the weaker one of the two, like he was in their past.Madara felt he was weaker than Hashirama, because of Hashirama's increase in strength just like sasuke's feeling about naruto's strength making him feel inferior and leaving the leaf to train with orochimaru to get stronger.

This can be proven by seeing that Madara always had a failure or found difficulty,in making the stone reach across the water to the opposite shoreline, while hashirama could do it without difficulty. But at their battle Madara was able to shoot a TBB across the sea to the opposite shoreline,a feat which was even more difficult to do,signifying the Madara was no longer the weaker one.U_U

Numerous people didnt understand this and made really stupid theories which i dont want to even mention.I hope i cleared the confusion;)

I understood it exactly like this but I'm always glad when people attempt to stop some of the nonsense here. What I found more touching about it was that Hashirama showed how proud he was of his old friend, even though they were enemies later.

The feelings of respect and friendship between them aren't all gone. You even see it now when they speak about each other. I see a good ending coming, no matter what people here believe.

Same foe doesn't have to mean that it has something to do with his strength. He could have meant that he is no longer his rival/friend but now his rival/enemy.
I did see the significance with the stone compared to the tbb which was actually epic but that's not his own power meaning he did not need to put in any effort to make it reach the other shoreline. That was all Kyuubi.

It didnt really take that much strength since the Nine tails fired the TBB,but you are forgeting that Madara was controlling kurama and it isnt about strength but more about control and precision which madara did.For example anyone can fire a gun but not everyone can hit a target at 100 meters.Any problem?

Hhhmmm good one.
I was under the impression that he meant that he has EMS.That's why he was very upset when Hashirama mentioned his brother.
I thought that he was referring to the fact that he took Izuna's eyes and that he had fallen further into hate and despair.

Give a child a gun and let them fire it. It will go as far as the gun can shoot. You also forgot to take into concideration that Hashirama used Rashomon to change the trajectory of the TBB meaning it would have exploded where Hashirama stood if he did not retaliate with a reliable defense. Any problems?

According to my understanding there was something which hashi said which included brother, and i do think that madara took it as izuna. There certainly is something that happened in the past that we still dont know regarding the specification of izuna's death!

By what madara said, he hinted that they fought numerous times before with hashirama bieng always the stronger one, and by this time he declared he's no longer the weaker foe that he once was... or thats what he thought... until the fight was concluded, wherein a sword was impaled in his body and he is left on the brink of death.

"sword was impaled in his body and he is left on the brink of death".This is false. You probably saw this in one of the naruto games, but i am sorry to tell you this that not correct.Exactly how the battle ended is yet to be revealed in the manga.

About the rashomon you do have a point, but why did hashirama seemed surprised when it reached across the shoreline. He probably just changed the direction but not the altitude of the TBB thats why it still bounced on the water and covered a large area.

If Hashirama changed it's trajectory to an even higher angle, it wouldn't have stopped at the shoreline of the other side but it would have continued at least three times further. Madara was stronger but I can't help but thinking that it's all the raw power of the TBB that made it go so far. I don't feel as though Madara aided the distance in any manner what so ever but hey, this is all just my own opinion on the subject. Better saying it here instead of making another thread about these type of things.
For all we know, they could reveal more about this topic in the next chapter by elaborating on the actual quote that inspired this thread. All we can do is wait and discuss. I don't really think too much about these things, I'm not into the whole theory, vs, discussion type thing.

I'm not the discussion type either, but i become indulged when there is a need to spread "comman sense".Anyway your right when you said that this is one's own opinion.I think you took the mature action by declaring that this point can not be argued any more, because many obsessed people(often sasuke fanboys etc) do not stop and then start swearing and badmouthing each other, which is an idiotic way to end a intellectual debateU_U

I know it is Obito who narrated this.. but he must have heard it from Madara himself, as we know Madara was some sort of his mentor.
