My brother, Alex is 11. He's feeling really depressed and feels his life is pointless.

Can you please encourage him and make him feel better? I would really appreciate it, because I'm really upset that my brother is feeling like this. :(

I wish i could help but its really not helpful to make broad and impersonal suggestions. You know him best. Find out whats at the root of the issue and help him out.

He's afraid that his life won't amount to anything and he'll live alone.

You honestly think posting about it in a forum was my first thought?! Of course I'm trying to help him! I just needed some outside advice, as he never listens to me, I thought if he heard it from you guys, it would cheer him up a little!

Isn´t he too young to be thinking that? He has loads of time to mold his life, guide him a bit as well :)

Alright serious answer........Teach him how to make friends or have him checked out for some chronic form of depression as he is much too young to feel that way

Alright, thanks. He's gone to bed now, but I'll check in the morning.
